Roseville Lifetime Pet Licenses

December 18th, 2007 Posted in Community

Sterilizing and tagging your pet will help protect your pet and it will also help you save some money in Roseville. The Roseville City Council recently approved an ordinance to encourage pet owners to sterilize and electronically tag their pets. Under the new ordinance a person who sterilizes and tags their dogs or cats could pay $5.00 for a lifetime license. Pet owners would still be responsible to provide proof that their pets had received rabies shots every two years.

A pet that has been “electronically tagged” has a microchip with identifying information implanted under the animal’s skin. If a pet is lost, the City could read the microchip and return the animal to its owners. Such a device would also help identify a pet if the dog or cat has been stolen.

Currently pet owners pay $5.00 for a two year license. Under the new ordinance pet owners could pay up to $140 if the pet has not been sterilized or electronically tagged. Contact Captain Rick Mathwig at 651-792-7008 if you have questions about pet licensing.
